Carlos V Language Schools offer the opportunity to take the official DELE and CCSE exams, as well as specific preparation courses for those who need to certify their level of Spanish or obtain Spanish nationality.
Certifying Spanish language proficiency or demonstrating knowledge of Spanish society and culture are important steps for many people who study or live in Spain. As an examination centre authorised by the Instituto Cervantes, Carlos V Language Schools provide access to the DELE and CCSE exams, as well as specific training to prepare candidates for both examinations.
DELE: officially certify your level of Spanish
The Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera (DELE), awarded by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, officially certify a candidate’s level of competence and proficiency in Spanish.
These diplomas cover levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). They are internationally recognised and valid indefinitely, making them useful for accessing educational programmes, certifying language skills or improving professional opportunities.
In addition, to obtain Spanish nationality by residence, applicants are generally required to demonstrate a minimum Spanish level of A2 through the DELE diploma and pass the CCSE exam, except in cases of exemption or dispensation provided for by law.
Carlos V Language Schools offer two-week DELE preparation courses, comprising a total of 20 hours. During the classes, students work on the different skills assessed in the exam: reading and listening comprehension, written expression and interaction, and oral expression and interaction.
CCSE: knowledge of Spain for Spanish nationality
The Test of Constitutional and Sociocultural Knowledge of Spain (CCSE), developed by the Instituto Cervantes, assesses candidates’ knowledge of the Spanish Constitution and Spanish social and cultural life. Together with the DELE A2 diploma or higher, it is one of the general requirements for obtaining Spanish nationality by residence, subject to legally established exceptions.
The exam consists of 25 multiple-choice or true-or-false questions divided into five tasks. Candidates have 45 minutes to complete the test and must answer at least 15 questions correctly to pass.
For those who need to prepare, Carlos V Language Schools offer three-hour intensive preparation courses, held in a single session during the week before the exam. The course allows students to review the main topics covered in the test, from the organisation of the Spanish state to culture and everyday life in Spain, and includes assistance with the registration process.
Preparation and examinations in the same centre
In addition to organising official examination sessions, Carlos V Language Schools offer specific training to help candidates understand how each exam works and prepare according to their individual objectives.
While the CCSE is aimed at those who need to demonstrate their constitutional and sociocultural knowledge of Spain as part of the Spanish nationality application process, the DELE allows candidates to certify their Spanish language proficiency from A1 to C2. In this way, the examination offer is aimed both at those who need to meet the requirements for Spanish nationality and at students and professionals who wish to officially certify their level of Spanish.
Those interested can find information about preparation courses, available examination sessions and registration requirements through Carlos V Language Schools and the Instituto Cervantes official examination website.
