Program Modules
Program 1
Module 1: Effective Communication
Verbal and paraverbal communication.
Communication and emotional management are crucial elements in the learning process. Teachers must be aware of how to manage emotions and understand classroom interactions to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts. This module addresses communication theories and techniques to improve teaching effectiveness, promoting awareness of different communication styles and flexibility to adjust to students’ needs.
Module 2: Neurolinguistic Programming
Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) is presented as a crucial tool for influencing interpersonal interaction and achieving goals. This approach uses verbal and non-verbal commands to modify behaviors and has applications in teaching Spanish. NLP emphasizes the importance of language, tone of voice and body language in the interpretation and response of students, offering techniques such as anchors and positive associations to motivate and enhance the learning process. Teachers can adapt personalized strategies, improve retention and foster a positive classroom environment through the application of NLP principles.
Module 3: Developing intercultural competence
Concept of intercultural competence, Spanish in the world.
This course seeks to improve intercultural communication in the ELE classroom by developing students’ intercultural competence. It deals with the study of the consequences of culture shock and communication difficulties due to the lack of knowledge of sociocultural aspects. The teacher will learn to deal with cultural misunderstandings and to work with diatopic varieties of Spanish, thus improving the ability to process messages with different pronunciations.
Module 4: Use of technology in the ELE classroom.
ICTs and Artificial Intelligence in the classroom.
The incorporation of ICTs in ELE teaching implies a modernization of traditional educational methods. The use of 2.0 applications offers opportunities for students, digital natives, to learn interactively, adapting to their preferences for image, sound and concise messages. This not only facilitates communication, but also improves their cognitive processes.
Module 5: Experiential Application
This module emphasizes the need to combine practice with theory to achieve effective learning. It seeks to establish a solid connection between emotions and knowledge, promoting positive responses and direct reflections on the students’ experience. In addition, it offers the opportunity to connect the emotional and rational dimension in emblematic scenarios of the city, fostering cultural immersion.
Program 2
Module 1: Effective Communication
Nonverbal, Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Communication
Module 2: Developing Intercultural Competence
Cross-cultural encounter and cultural misunderstandings
This course focuses on the development of intercultural competence in situations of encounter between different cultures, addressing the cultural misunderstandings that can arise. The causes of such misunderstandings, derived from differences in cultural values, norms and behaviors, are explored. The teacher will learn to identify and manage these misunderstandings, favoring a more effective communication between students from different cultural contexts. In addition, reflection on one’s own cultural identity and its influence on interaction will be promoted, fostering greater openness and intercultural sensitivity.
Module 3: Stereotypes and Topics in the ELE Classroom
This course addresses the impact of stereotypes and clichés in ELE teaching, analyzing how these preconceived ideas can influence students’ perception and behavior. Strategies are explored to identify and dismantle stereotypes, promoting a more critical and realistic approach to Spanish-speaking cultures. Teachers will learn to foster a more diverse and nuanced view of Hispanic countries, helping them to question common clichés and develop a deeper and more respectful understanding of different cultural realities.
Module 4: Use of Technology in the ELE Classroom
Multimedia Resources and Online Teaching Tools
The incorporation of multimedia resources and online teaching tools transforms ELE teaching, modernizing traditional educational approaches. The use of digital platforms and multimedia applications allows students, digital natives, to learn in a more interactive and dynamic way, adjusting to their preferences for visual and auditory content. These resources not only facilitate communication between teachers and students, but also enrich the learning process by fostering creativity, collaboration and critical thinking, thus enhancing the educational experience in virtual environments.
Module 5: Experiential Application
